Day 5: Are you ready??

Today it snowed. Nope, not this much – this was a photo from last spring. But the snow was lovely, covering the ground in a thin layer of pure whiteness. And I am looking forward to blizzards like this… They’re coming! =) That’s about it… Just a little post, but at least I’m back on the NaBloPoMo train. Hope you’re having a fabulous Tuesday!

Day 3

So obviously, NaBloPoMo didn’t get off to the best start. But as I’ve been learning in a healthy lifestyles class, life is all about looking forward and planning your next step – not beating yourself over past mistakes.

What did you miss?  Well, the plan was to make sweet and salty pumpkin seeds on Friday, glittery leaves on Saturday, and mac&cheese today.  If you’re bummed about missing these, don’t worry! They’ll probably be featured in some future posts.

Why didn’t it work out? To put it simply, I chose to live in the moment – and I don’t regret it!  Life got in the way, but in happy forms: a school dance, developments with a cute boy, a surprise birthday party, and bonding time with new friends, just to name a few.  Sure, I could have squeezed in a few simple photo posts, but I didn’t, and that’s okay with me.

So today I’ll just leave you with these explanations, and the promise that I’ll work on getting some real content up for the rest of the month. Happy November! (:

Preparing for NaBloPoMo

Hello, friends!

Right now it’s looking pretty empty, right? There’s not actually anyone out there reading this, and there aren’t any real posts yet – just two silly little paragraphs that I copy-pasted from my “About” page because A) I couldn’t figure out how to make a link to the actual page, and B) Why waste a perfectly good introduction?

NaBloPoMo November 2013

As far as I see it, that’s okay – as long as I don’t stop here (and why would I??).  So as a way to kick-start this blog and make sure I keep my momentum going, I’ve decided to participate in NaBloPoMo. (details for the unfamiliar here: and here:

For a little prep, tonight I whipped up a spreadsheet with a different idea for every day – some DIY, some beauty, some baking – and about six extra ideas in case something doesn’t work out.  It’s going to be a busy month, but I can’t wait!  Most of the ideas are from Pinterest – the idea is, this month I’ll get into the habit of blogging regularly and after that I’ll start focusing on originality.

What are you doing to prepare for NaBloPoMo? I’d love to hear your plans!

1029132042Hello there! My name is Emily, and I’m an 18-year-old artist, baker, and bibliophile.  I am currently studying Liberal Arts/Art History as part of my path in becoming a librarian.

This blog was inspired by a concept explored in John Green’s “Looking for Alaska”.  Miles (the protagonist) uses the last words of Francois Rabelais, “I go to seek a great perhaps”, as inspiration for the way he lives his life. Although Rabelais may have been referring to what happens after death, I agree with Miles that the “great perhaps” as something to seek now.  This idea continually motivates me to search for all the wonderful, exciting things that this world holds.  As I make my discoveries (be they little or big), I will share my findings with you through this blog!

I hope you enjoy my little explorations into this great and wonderful world!
